Hamilton, Ontario - Safe Bathing Canada, a Canadian installer of walk-in bathtubs and accessible showers, appeared on local news station CHCH News to promote its line of bathtubs and showers, as well as its new showroom in Hamilton.
The CHCH News Segment
In an interview with Emily Vukovic of CHCH News, Colin Gates, the owner of Safe Bathing Canada, showcased many of the models of bathtubs and showers the company offers. The focus of the interview was on how the various features of the bathtubs and showers enhance accessibility, safety, and comfort.
Some of the features highlighted included the locks that keep water from leaking out of the side of the tub, the speed with which the tubs drain and fill, and comfort features like heated seats and chromotherapy. Several different models were featured, showcasing how the units can fit into both large and smaller bathroom spaces.
The Benefits of Living at Home
During the interview, Emily Vukovic and Colin Gates also discussed how walk-in bathtubs and showers can improve the lives of those who use them. The advantages of staying in your own home while aging were highlighted, including longer lives and improved mental health. They also discussed the independence that comes with being able to get in and out of your own shower or bathtub without assistance.
Colin Gates explained the purpose behind the company's public outreach: "Living at home can drastically improve physical, mental, and social health. People deserve to know that they have options when it comes to bathing and showering. Slip-and-fall accidents are extremely dangerous and they mostly happen in the bathroom. By increasing awareness of walk-in bathtubs and accessible showers, we hope to protect the health and independence of Canadians."
Raising Awareness Across Ontario
The purpose of news appearances like this one - along with recent commercials - is to increase awareness of the options people have when it comes to living at home with mobility issues. Many Canadians who would benefit most from accessible bathing solutions simply aren't aware these products exist, or assume they are prohibitively expensive or disruptive to install.
Safe Bathing Canada currently offers five different models of walk-in bathtubs as well as accessible shower options, and installs throughout Ontario. The company is headquartered in Hamilton, Ontario, where it also operates a showroom where customers can see the product line in person.
